Park Szczęśliwicki

Locally extracted clay deposits for the Oppenheim brothers’ brickyard resulted in the emergence of excavations and, as a result, ponds. Some of the pond’s clay pits were filled in, and the two largest ones were connected by a canal to form the Glinianki Szczęśliwickie reservoir. The water reservoir has an area of 7 hectares and is stocked with fish. It is a perfect recreation place for anglers and canoeists. There are about 18 species of fish in the pond, including carp, pike, tench, ruff, grass carp, silver carp, catfish, eel, crucian carp. A bridge and a marina for kayaks and boats have been built over the reservoir. In the summer, local residents meet here for walks.

Szczęśliwicki Park is characterized by rich flora despite the anthropogenic origin of the ground. The base of the park was created as a result of piling up rubble and collecting garbage. Not much, because about 1 m of fertile earth was enough for the rich plant and animal life to bloom here. Among the trees in the park we will meet, among others: silver maple, common maple, sycamore, chestnut, poplar, oak, willow, linden, ash, dogwood, rowan. In the park we can also observe a wealth of birds, mostly protected. There are, among others: chaffinch, goldfinch, oriole, blackbird, starling, wagtail and water birds: mallards, coots, water chanterelles, seagulls, reed warblers . You can also meet swans, wild geese and Canadian goose recognized as an ornithological rarity.
